The Problem
Our Soil is going extinct, and so is our food.
Modern industrial agriculture practices deplete our soil of its carbon and elemental nutrients in order to mass produce food – all too often genetically modified and sprayed with poison.
Meanwhile, BigAg Multinationals and profit driven developers continue to buy up the world’s farmlands at an unprecedented rate. The result is increased centralized control and mismanagement of the world’s agricultural lands and food supply.
According to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)
at current rates of degradation, fertile soil will go extinct within the next 60 years. In addition, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that by 2045, food production will drop by 40%, as the population crosses 9.3 billion.
Soil extinction is a real and immediate concern
Unless addressed now, will lead to catastrophic global crises within one generation’s time… including food and water shortages, droughts and famines, adverse climate changes, mass migrations and unprecedented rates of species extinction.
While the degree of systemic change needed to address this pending catastrophe is daunting
new ways of combining finance, creativity and entrepreneurship through Web3 blockchain capital raises offers the potential to rapidly crowd source significant funding and community involvement towards literally saving the earth’s soil.

The Vision
Rethinking land ownership to benefit Earth
SoilDAO began with the mission “to accelerate topsoil regeneration” and quickly realized 2 things;
the problem is systemic, and we are not alone. There are many beautiful organizations working on different parts of this puzzle. SoilDAO believes the ultimate solution to saving our topsoil will come from our collective mind, in a cooperative endeavor. So we built a map to help us work together.

The EcoVillage represents communities living in harmony with the land. Every town & city has the potential to be an “EcoVillage”. This is far more easily accomplished when supported by the components in this tree of life. Unfortunately, many of these elements are disconnected or don’t yet exist.

SoilDAO imagines a marketplace that enables fractionalized shares of property dedicated to conservation & regenerative practices. These NFTs can accrue value in AIR/WATER/SOIL credits, based on activities qualified by the council of LORE and approved by the DAO. Revenue supports the rapid growth and expansion of EcoVillages.

SoilDAO believes the ability to exchange value in a fully decentralized manner is critical to regenerative finance and the nature of abundance. There are many folks already building these tools. We just need to plug them in.

The council is responsible for managing the principles and policies specific to every region & resource. This component enables participants to leverage the knowledge graph, qualify business operations & submit proposals to the DAO.

SoilDAO imagines a vast knowledge graph that illustrates the relationships between all parties, data & resources (think Big Data Analytics meets Wikipedia meets Facebook). This seemingly monumental undertaking is made easy with new technologies, AI & crowdsourcing intelligence.

~ AKA Carbon Credits ~
Air is currently managed with "Carbon Credits”. International organizations are trying to govern all resources with carbon credits, and it's kind of a mess. There are over 170 types of Carbon Credits & no single entity that governs them all.
SoilDAO imagines AIR as a single utility token that governs Clean Air and provides an organizational structure for all related off-set credits.
WATER

SoilDAO imagines a global utility token that enables fair use & responsible consumption of this precious resource, planet-wide. Much like a carbon-offset credit, SoilDAO imagines a world where clean water is both an ecological & economic imperative.
